Data from a Czech security firm showed that a big slice of infected PCs fall upon machines on Windows XP.
Last week Avast Software released its report that reveals that Windows XP machines are disproportionally infected with rootkits.
Having a 58% share of all Windows systems used XP accounts for 74% of the rootkit infected PCs, says Avast.
In comparison, Windows 7 machines make up only 12% of infected PCs.
Avast attributed the infection disparity between XP and Windows 7 to these factors: The widespread use of pirated copies of XP and better security of Windows 7.

In the course of a mass iFrame injection attack, nearly 100,000 web pages for e-commerce sites on the open source OS Commerce platform were compromised with malware, reports security firm Armorize.

iHS iSuppli predicts that Microsoft’s ARM-enabled Windows 8 operating system will bring a new series of low-cost laptops stealing possible a significant share from Intel.
At the moment ARM enabled laptops are almost nonexistent. However, the market analyst believes that in 4 years ARM based laptops will account for 22.9% of global laptop shipments from 3% forecast for next year.
The laptops will be priced well under $700 - many in the sub-$500 segment, according to CNET and iHS-iSuppli analyst Matthew Wilkins.

eBay’s online payment processor PayPal is moving offline, said Chief Executive John Donahoe in the wake of presenting quarterly results on Wednesday.
"We intend to help retailers grow their businesses offline in the same way we helped merchants grow online," Donahoe said during a conference call with analysts.
PayPal will be testing "point-of-sale innovation" with a major U.S. retailer by the end of this year, he added.
Within 2012 PayPal will be releasing in-store payment services with up to 20 national retailers, Donahoe said, without naming those companies.

Google reported that Chinese hackers again tried to steal the passwords of hundreds of Google email account holders, including those of senior U.S. government officials, Chinese activists and journalists.
